Vaccines
The development of vaccines against infections is one of the greatest successes in immunology. In the United States, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) advises the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on the control of vaccine preventable diseases. For instance, there is a high recommendation that all school-aged children in the United-States receive two doses of measles vaccine. However, there are parents in certain communities who choose not to vaccinate their children against measles.
Do you agree with such an attitude of parents who do not allow their children to be vaccinated? Write a short comment (150 – 250 words), and discuss with (at least two of) your colleagues on a theme: “To vaccinate or not to vaccinate against measles“
